MERCY IN ACTION

In Bangladesh, last month the new area finance officer came to visit and began the necessary steps to integrate our local financial system with those around the world. We do hope that the new system would work according to plan, and there would be no unforeseen difficulties.

The month of June marks the end of our financial year. This June is also the last month of our five year plan, which ran from July 2005 - June 2010. We have just submitted our plans for the next five years to the NGO bureau, to run from July 2010 – June 2014; and hope that we would receive all the necessary official permission speedily and without delay.

We will need new workers to run all the new key programmes: schools’ assistance, computer training, vocational training, management skill training for women, sports programmes, village primary schools work, literacy training, teaching languages and church development skills; especially in the additional districts where we would like to start working. Our existing workers will need extra strength so that they do not burn out.

This year we have not been able to complete more than 50% of our total budget plan for this year, due to lack of funds as well as lack of time. Praise God that we have been able to provide, and install where necessary, ten new toilets, tube wells, libraries and classroom furniture sets in needy schools without difficulties! We need sufficient funds for the new schools assistance projects, in order to bless those needy schools in good time.

Our national government has recently declared that Bangladesh is a digital nation. This has resulted in men and women being very eager to learn about possible changes in their life style through a different kind of education including spiritual, historical, political and religious influences. All our programmes are geared to the Bangladesh of today, in helping disadvantaged people holistically, using limited resources. We want to continue to have integrity in what we offer those who come on our programmes.
