A Mother's Smile in Bangladesh
Bangladesh | OM International

Life has never been easy for Pari growing up in a poor family in a small village.
It became much more difficult when her father left his wife for another woman and stopped all financial help. Although Pari's two elder sisters were already married to day-labourers, Pari, her mother and her younger sister had to earn money to put rice on their plates and allow Pari and her sister to continue their studies.
Pari was initially able to give tuition to other children and so earned a small amount of money to help her mother; but it was still hard to make ends meet.
Recently Pari had the chance to join one of our computer training courses.
She worked hard and did well, and so was then able to secure a part time job in a local development organisation, greatly supplementing the family income. This brought more stability and renewed dignity to them all.
As a result of the training and her part time job, there is a much greater chance that Pari will marry a man who is not a day-labourer. Such a regular, larger, income could bring even more stability into their lives!
"I am very grateful for the computer training that I received," remarks Pari. "Without it, we would be facing many difficulties. It is great to have been able to bring a smile back to my mother's face."
