Freedom for girls to run: in Bangladesh

There was the court: neatly marked out with lines on it, and a net stretched across it.

Girls stood around, hopping on one leg, or passing balls from one another, laughing and enjoying themselves.  The principal was thrilled that 'her' girls would have this opportunity to release their energy and 'play':

"It really helps the girls with concentration and makes a big difference to their studies.  I am happy with the Christian coaches who teach but do not try to preach at the girls at the time," she smiled.

One of our team members told me afterwards:

"Sport for these girls is such a special thing.  And, they are so open to get to know us.  Because they don't have access to many other adults near their own age, other than family, they have no one to talk to about the things they face, the issues they fear.

I have had some very surprising conversations with a number of girls; precious times of incredible intimacy; such a privilege."
