Called to be His hands and feet

Singapore | OM International

AmandaSince Amanda (Singapore) returned from a short-term outreach in Manila, Philippines, last year, the words of Isaiah 6:8* have challenged her to respond to God’s call to missions again.

"Last year’s trip to Manila was an unforgettable experience for me, as it opened my eyes to the reality of poverty, as well as God’s love for His children," explained Amanda. "It broke my heart when I saw the extent of poverty the slum dwellers and their families were living in, and it made me realise how blessed I am. God placed a burden on my heart for the slum dwellers, and I wish to return back to serve them, to bless them as God has blessed me.”

Amanda says there is still so much to be done. “The hunger that the children had for God made me realise that the opportunities for outreach to these people are so plentiful, yet the workers are so few. I hope to return to serve in Manila as one of God’s servants this year, to call His children back to Him and to love them as God would—as God has loved me.”

Praise God for placing a call on Amanda’s heart to be His hands and feet to the slum dwellers in Manila, and for making her path straight. Pray that young Singaporeans would respond to God’s call to long-term missions, and that their ministry would bring transformation to lives and communities.

* “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” – Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)
