Reaching the Mapuche
Argentina | OM International
Team members of OM in Buenos Aires, Argentina, recently journeyed to the indigenous Mapuche people in the province of Neuquén to serve, develop relationships, disciple local believers and minister in the community. The team led Bible studies for children, did repair work on the local primary school and provided sports activities and English classes. Not only this, but they also had opportunities to disciple new believers in the community. Conner Frank, an American team member, recalled that serving these people was a rewarding experience: "This community was extremely warm and inviting, always showing us wonderful hospitality, and was extremely open to the gospel.
"One of the most important things about the trip," continued Conner, "was making sure that those who came to know Christ during our time there had the resources and accountability to grow in Him."
Bibles were given to those who showed interest in the Scriptures. In addition, many team members have connected with the Mapuche people through Facebook and email and look forward to developing the new relationships in the future.
