24 hours that changed a school
United Kingdom | Debbie Meroff
From 2-5 April a team of four Christian school workers joined local church youth workers to impact 1,000 students and staff at St Teilo’s High School in Cardiff, Wales. Their dramatic presentation about Christ’s last 24 hours was called “24 Hours that Changed the World”.Relates OM Lifehope’s Jonathan Harris: “Team members also took seven assemblies through the week as well as Christian Union meetings each lunchtime. And Christian sixth form students led their own ‘Life Assemblies’ for the whole school, which included modern worship songs, testimonies of salvation and a clear presentation of the gospel.
"At the end of the assembly, for the year 11 group, the school chaplain felt led to challenge the students to make a commitment to Christ and led them in a prayer of response! Several students in the lunchtime meetings indicated they had made that step of trusting Jesus.” In addition, 1,400 copies of the book, 24 Hours That Changed the World, donated by local churches, were distributed to students and staff members.
One of the teachers called the events “awesome” and “inspirational”. “There was a real sense that the Holy Spirit was at work,” affirms Jonathan. “Please keep praying for our schools ministry in Cardiff. What God is doing in St Teilo’s He can do elsewhere! With God all things are possible.”
