 REVIVE MALAYSIA

Kuala Lumpur 5 August, 2008 - At a glance at the front pages of Malaysian newspapers the country is undergoing political, economical, social and religious challenges. After the general election of March 8, the Barisan National (BN) coalition won 140 of the 222 seats in the federal parliament.

However, for the first time the ruling coalition was denied the 2/3rd majority. Since then, the country has been adjusting to the peaceful change in the balance of power in the different states. Amidst this time of change the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) Malaysia has called for 40 days of fast and prayer for the nation's revival just before the country’s 51st Independence Day on 31st August.

Malaysia has been really blessed with a multi-racial culture comprising Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous peoples. Malaysia's population is estimated at 27 million people. Christians comprise approximately 8% of the population. If one Christian shared with 11 people in their lifetime the entire country would be reached. However, the passion for God, passion for evangelism and mission has not caught fire in Malaysia.

Against this backdrop, OM Malaysia continues to mobilise Malaysians to serve the Lord and develop a passion for missions. Currently, over 30 Malaysians are serving with OM in over 10 countries and the ships ministry. Out of the Comfort Zone Asia, a mission exposure conference focusing on Asia has touched over 400 peoples' lives since its inception in 2003 as they go on short-term exposure throughout the region. TeenStreet Malaysia races off in December 2008 in its fourth year with the theme ‘In-Gear’. Focusing on discipling the next generation for Jesus, TeenStreet also helps teenagers develop a heartbeat for the lost.

We are praying for God to bring revival to the hearts of Malaysian Christians and the nation. Our vision is to see more Malaysians going out to the mission field and taking the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth.

It is an exciting time for Malaysia, as we are also beginning to see the proclamation of the gospel taken across the nation. If you would like to partner with us in Malaysia, email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
