Beautiful packages for 2300 kids

OM International

Jumping of joy!“Yes!! They arrived!!” The whole class jumped onto their feet and shouted of joy! The team that was bringing Samaritan’s Purse gift-boxes had finally arrived at their school! Each one of the children and even the teacher got a beautiful package. As the guests went on to the next class, kids quickly opened their gifts. What beautiful things were in there! Was that a late visit of Santa Claus? Or were these foreigners some kind of angels?

The Evangelical Church in Bihać, Bosnia-Herzegovina received 2300 Samaritan’s Purse gift-boxes in December 2008. Together with the OM team there, they decided to distribute them in all of the schools of a neighboring town. We had helped one of the schools by providing 310 school- bags for them in September. These packages gave us one more opportunity to bring the love of Jesus to them. Everybody in that town and their surrounding villages are from a different religious background. We are the closest Evangelical church to them, still an hour’s driving away from their town. God has laid that town into our hearts, the OM-ers go there regularly to pray for that community. There is yet no opening to share the Gospel. But we can show God’s care and love by helping them practically.

There are 2 main schools in that town and 7 small daughter-schools in the surrounding villages. The OM-ers, local believers and a visiting team from Vienna Christian School, Austria spent three days distributing packages in all of these schools. What a joy it was to think that every school- child in that community got a package! Every teacher and staff member, from a cleaning- lady to the director, got a gift as well. Later, one director told us: “Yesterday, one girl from our school was going home, carrying the package. She met a friend from the other school, and she also was carrying a package! It was so nice that both of them could rejoice together!”
