Mission Extreme Team Panama July 2009Mission Extreme Panama July 2009

Mission Extreme Panama has been in existence since July 2006. This year saw the biggest team to date. We had a total of eleven participants from 8 different countries join us for this outreach programme,  seen here in the photo from left to right top to bottom: Brenda (Mexico), Gail (N.Ireland), Natalia (Mexico), Cat (England), Cathryn (N.Ireland), Chloe (Canada) Janice (Germany), Robyn (Scotland), Michael (Switzerland), Gustavo (Argentina), Jan (Germany), and Albin Villarreal, the Field Leader from Panama. They all arrived in Panama bleary eyed, from jetlag over a period of two days.

Their first stop was a temple tour of Panama visiting the major religious places and then attending a conference called “Voice for the voiceless.”  After leaving Panama City they ventured out into the province of Chiriquí where they participated in a week of outreach training followed by work with the Lighthouse Ministries  in the local village doing schools outreach and some home visits.   Next came the extreme missions to several indigenous tribes in Tolote, Quebrada Carrizo, Cerro Puerco, Hebai, Cerro Banco, Llano Sonso, and Bugaba which involved walking for up to eleven hours to reach.

The team, found the experience exhilarating and lifechanging – experiencing life like the indigenous people do, with no fresh running water, no electricity, no proper cooking facilities or sanitary facilities. A real shock to the system you might say. While they were there they lived like the people they were reaching and were overwhelmed with the hospitality they received. Even though the indigenous people appeared very timid and shy there is no doubt of the impact that these intrepid fearless warriors for God had on them; they touched their hearts and left a lasting impression on them, sharing the love of God through drama, song, friendship and the word of God.  It truely was  a mission extreme.
