AUSTRALIA'S MUSLIMS WILL ALSO HEAR
Australia | OM International
More Muslims will hear God's Word preached as OM's new work, the Ministry to Australian Peoples (MAP) takes flight. Based in Sydney, where a quarter of a million (50 percent) of Australia's Muslims live, OM is working with three churches in Muslim outreach and another three in cross-cultural evangelism. However, the head office in Melbourne, with four full-time and five part-time staff, still lacks personnel. "Missions is not considered a priority and that makes our work a lot harder," said Alyson Bailey, secretary to field leader Richard Beaumont. Though they are eager to have a representative for all six states, economic and personnel limitations dictate otherwise. "It is much more difficult to raise support for workers within the country, as they are not perceived as 'real' missionaries," Bailey added.Pray for:
- The Love Australia programme, which ends Feb.2. Forty-five participants have dispersed in eight teams to work with churches in Sydney; two teams will focus on Muslim outreach.
- Staff needs. Two are required full-time in the Head Office. State representatives are also needed, as well as those who would be prepared to represent OM on a more informal basis.
- Financial needs.
