MILLIONS TOOK TO THE STREETS
Australia | OM International
MILLIONS TOOK TO THE STREETS to declare their faith on May 30th - the International March for Jesus. Some 2,000 communities in 130 nations participated in this annual event. Richard Beaumont writes from Canberra:Twenty thousand joined a prayer pilgrimage to Canberra, some travelling up to three-and-a-half kilometres to join fellow believers marching into the city. Assembling in three different locations, they converged at Parliament House and walked around it, prayed for the government, for aboriginal reconciliation, and recognising in a fresh way that we are all part of God's family.
Throughout the night four different prayer points were set up in the shape of the Southern Cross. Not only were Australian ministries and peoples prayed for but ministries in other parts of the world were also brought before the Lord.
The Awakening 2000 and AD2000 & Beyond movements, both involved in organising the event, were reported to be satisfied with the turnout. Individuals were invited to bring a rock which bore the name of the town from which they came. The rocks were erected into a monument signifying the congregation of God's people in this country. Together we were reminded that ''more things are wrought by prayer than legislators dream of''.
Pray for:
- The Ministry to Australian Peoples (MAP) as they reach out to Muslims living in Sydney and disciple new believers from Muslim backgrounds.
- The two new members in the OM Australia Head Office in Melbourne. Geoff & Lindsay Rayner will coordinate national ministries and Patrick & Rebecca Nelson will take charge of publicity services and the computer network in the Head Office.
- The 95 Australians in key OM leadership roles in 15 nations.
- The many Australians who inquire daily the possibilities of joining OM. Remember Carole and Liz who coordinate inquiries and work with new recruits.
- The quiet team of volunteers who send out prayer information, OM news and receive the gifts which come in daily,
- The OM Australia Board meetings on 12 & 13 June to discuss development of a five-year ministry plan.
