"I watched them pray at every meal..."
Bosnia & Hercegovina | OM International
The seminars in Bihać took place over 3 days, with two sessions a day. In-between these sessions were almost 5 hours of free time. The local church provided a small lunch for everybody who wanted to stay for the whole day. While some played darts and balls, others rosted chestnuts on a little campfire in the church-yard. There was enough time and space to fellowship with each other, talk and pray or just relax. The Americans were first surprised by that. "Almost 6 hours of free time? Aren’t we supposed to DO something?" they said. Later they agreed that it had been a great experience. They had got to know their listeners at a much deeper level, could share and pray with some, and enjoyed just having fun! After the team left Bihać, OM Bosnia received a phonecall from the hotel where the Americans had stayed. The hotel personnel wanted to thank the OM team for such nice guests! A local team member returned to the hotel to share a good cup of coffee with the receptionist. "I was so touched by watching these Americans. First, they seemed to be somehow so full of peace and joy. Whatever I brought them for breakfast, they rejoiced over! But the most amazing thing for me was to see them pray together before every meal! And one couple even held hands as they prayed. The husband prayed, but the wife also agreed with him. What a nice picture of truly godly people!"
The receptionist's observations opened the door for a good conversation about spiritual matters. She asked sincere questions, and listened carefully to the answers. Who knows, maybe one day she will be a follower of Jesus? And then she can tell everybody that her first contact with Christians was this group of Americans in her hotel. "I watched them pray every morning before breakfast..." she would say.
