A place of friendly conversation over coffee closed

Edgware Road in London is a predominantly Muslim community. Men from OM Turning Point set up Coffee Corner on Edgware Road to meet Muslim men in the community, and to talk to them about God over coffee. A book table with Christian literature in English, Arabic and other languages is available for interested people. Although this is a place meant purely for discussion and friendly conversation, Muslim men take shifts to make sure discussions don’t get too serious.

For a bolder statement of faith, some of the team hold up a sign farther down Edgware Road saying, “Ask Me About Jesus.” Dozens of people flock to the sign, some curious and others wanting to defend their faith.

Since the beginning of September, however, OM’s ministry on Edgware Road has been closed. The church commissioners who own the land are planning to extend the landscaping, thus removing the open space. Pray for wisdom as the team continues to engage with the local community and tourists from the Middle East, that they will make the most of the current opportunities and see new ways to make Jesus known.

Edgware Road es una comunidad predominantemente musulmana en Londres. Algunos hombres de OM Punto de Cambio prepararon una mesa de café en una esquina para encontrarse y conversar con hombres musulmanes de la comunidad acerca de Dios mientras disfrutan de un café. Una mesa de literatura cristiana en inglés, árabe y otros idiomas esta disponible para quienes estén interesados. Aunque es un lugar sólo para conversar amablemente, los hombres musulmanes se turnan para asegurarse que las discusiones no sean muy serias.

Tomando un paso de fe más audaz, algunos del equipo pusieron un cartel que dice: “Pregúntame Sobre Jesús”. Docenas se acercaron, algunos por curiosidad otros para defender su fe.

Desde comienzos de Septiembre el ministerio de OM en Edgware Road ha sido cerrado. Los miembros de la iglesia dueña del lugar donde funcionaba la mesa de café, están planeando extender un jardín y ocupar el espacio abierto hasta ahora utilizado para este ministerio. Por favor ora por sabiduría para que el equipo pueda seguir en contacto con la comunidad local y los turistas que llegan desde el Medio Oriente, para que aprovechen al máximo cada oportunidad y encuentren nuevas formas de compartirles de Jesús.
