A Teen on Fire for God

A year ago I told you about 17 year old Alma* who lives in a nearby village with her grandmother while her family lives in Italy. As a believer of only a months now, she has encouraged me so much – here are examples of how God is working in her heart and life... 

She describes her prayer life thus, “At first, when I prayed, I talked to God with my words. You know, ‘God, help me’ and things like that. But now, when I talk to Him, its with my heart. It’s like I’m talking to you now! Like a friend.”

Alma recently read in the Bible how Jesus tells us to pray for our enemies and turn the other cheek. It was her first time hearing anything like it and she was truly shocked. It was amazing to see! The Holy Spirit was convicting her through it. She was so moved by it that she had to get in front of her class at school and read it all the way through, despite other students mocking her. 

For the Christmas service in her village, her church had invitations to invite others. Alma soon ran out of invitations after inviting friends, family and every teacher at her school, including the director! 

When I heard these things, I couldn’t hold back the tears. Alma spoke of her burden for people, “I want them to know. I want them to have what I have. But when I tell them, they don’t understand.” She was so distraught about it. 

Please, continue to pray for this rapidly growing little tree! She is a pearl to me here. When it seems so many seeds have been scattered and so few have taken root, I remember her and thank God for her.
