Neighbors and the new garden
Arabian Peninsula | OM International
Returning from my time back at home a family friend travelled back with me. One of the highlights was when we went out to buy plants for our front porch (after living there for one year): four bougainvillea, two hibiscus, one frangipani and two smaller plants are now living on our front porch! The most interesting part of the whole plant thing is that it opened the door to our Palestinian neighbours from the majority faith next door.Normally they avoided us - the wife ran like crazy when she saw us, just not to talk to us! Her husband asked me that day where I was for the last few weeks- I told him I went home. When he heard I was from South Africa, he was totally shocked - he thought I was British! That night when we came home with all the plants, he called his wife and the four of us talked for more than half an hour outside between the plants! Within a few minutes we learned that she can't get pregnant, which is a big thing in the Arab culture where having children is very much expected, and he had lost his job. We offered to pray for them and they agreed to that! What an open door did God give us through something as easy and simple as plants!
Pray with us that this door will remain open and that God will bring many breakthroughs in this relationship!
