Church planting in Anatolia

Turkey | OM International

We were sitting drinking tea together in a western city of Anatolia when my Turkish friend told me about his wife, Ayshe.  One morning she said she’d had the same dream three nights in a row. On the third occasion she'd even got out of bed and answered the knocking on the door of their flat. No one was in the hallway. Ayshe asked her husband if the dreams had religious significance... she'd "seen" a kind man dressed in white. She was amazed to learn that her husband had just received a New Testament from an address he'd contacted in Istanbul.

Together they began reading the New Testament and involved their young children, too. For many months I was able to hold worship meetings in their home and a women’s meeting started when my wife was able to introduce two single, local ladies to Ayshe.

God is planting his church in Anatolia. He is acting directly and he is using those who will come, learn the language and drink tea.

Pray for this family to grow in the Lord.

Pray for more workers to learn the language and drink tea.

Turkey :: Each year on 23 April thousands of people flock to St. George’s Orthodox Church on Buyukada, or Big Island, off the coast of Istanbul. Pilgrims trail cotton behind them as they climb, in hopes that if their thread reaches the top unbroken God will hear their prayers.
