Honest medical treatment restores hope

Albania | OM International

Doctor at workThe medical clinic in the Keneta of Durres has been running for two months now, shining the Light of Hope into the lives of local people.

Sick people receive a truthful diagnosis of their health concerns at an honest price at the medical clinic, as opposed to a dishonest diagnosis that is highly influenced by the amount of money they can give to the pockets of the larger system. This is possibly the first time for many of the patients that they are not required to pay corruption fees for the basic right of good health care.

One patient, Albana, told a Christian friend about her experience at the clinic. That friend wrote a letter to the clinic staff, “Albana came to the clinic with her daughter-in-law because she was having chest pain and problems breathing. She explained to me later that the doctors actually sat down with her and looked at all the prescriptions and asked her how much and how often she was taking them. They did a thorough examination and asked her many questions. Then they sat down with her and explained that they believed that she needed by-pass surgery and clearly showed her how to take her medications.

“Albana then looked at me with tears in her eyes and said, ‘Do you know what they did next? They prayed for me to God.’ With tears streaming down her face, Albana said, ‘I’ve never in my 57 years had a doctor spend so much time with me on a visit. I know I will never be able to afford this surgery, but I do know that when I returned home, my heart felt so much lighter. I know that prayer had something to do with this.’

“Albana had torn up her daughter-in-law’s Bible and burnt it in the fire, yet now she asked her daughter-in-law to read the Bible and pray for her. Albana found love and hope at the clinic.”
