Bringing Jesus to KwaMhlanga
South Africa | OM International
“Something like this has never happened here,” explained one missionary. The dusty tent was full of happy kids and teens playing games and learning about Jesus. Later they stood outside in tight groups (because there weren’t enough chairs) and listened intently to Bible studies led by the team members. Earlier that morning the OM team went into a village to invite kids to the program. About 60 kids followed them back to the tent, excited to have something to do during school holidays.
In addition to the kids’ program in KwaMhlanga, the team has been going door to door to invite people to a local church and to share the gospel. They also hope to have one or two big screen events where they will show a live World Cup game and share the gospel during half-time. The team is made up of people from at least four different continents, as well as different races, languages and personalities. This could be a big challenge to team unity, but God is at work. During a group debriefing, Jonathan recalls, “I shared something I’ve never shared” and “I realized that God was breaking us down and building us up as a group.” This team is going to be together for the full five weeks of ministry and they are looking forward to what God will do in and through them.
