Bosnia - different than OM EAST's short-termer expected
Bosnia & Hercegovina | OM International
Edwin and Hanna took Mandy, our short-termer from the US, on an exposure trip to Bihac in Bosnia. In their load they had wheelchairs and other medical material for a care home for war veterans, and about 200 schoolbags, school materials and a photocopier for the school bag outreach, which OM Bosnia will conduct in September.
“I had no idea, how Islamic and different the culture is from what I expected," stated Mandy. "The Bosnians are super-friendly, people like you and me. But they are facing much more poverty than other Europeans. Yet the country is so close to Austria and just across the Adriatic Sea from Italy.”
Mandy was excited to see how God is moving in Bosnia. She heard many positive things about the local church and the OM team who has taken up the challenge to share about God’s love in a mainly Islamic culture. She likes the fact that OM is open to suggestions and new and different ways to spread the gospel.
“It’s not just about giving out books,” she says. “It’s about relationships and using whatever opportunity and open doors you have.”
