Ministering in English class

Chile | OM International

English/Español

“What are those foreigners doing in there?”, a question often asked of people gathered for English courses. OM Chile has been teaching English for seven years, and the courses have been a great means of ministering. “Many people are curious and interested in what we’re doing,” says OMer Sandy Henson.

For the first time, OM is offering classes in a multi-purpose room in an apartment building in Chile’s capital, Santiago. The focus of the classes is to prepare future Christian workers for international service, but the classes are also open to residents and employees in the building. “It gives us an opportunity to share God’s love and meet a need,” says Sandy. One of the students started English classes thinking it would help her in her job. But through the experience, she has become interested in preparing for missions.

At the moment, OM Chile only has one full-time English teacher. But they receive calls and questions from people needing English lessons, and whose schedules or English levels don’t fit the offered classes. OM Chile would like to expand the programme and is looking for more teachers. Please pray for opportunities to grow, and praise God for the ministry these classes have become.
