Understanding God’s Word

Near East | Thea Winters

“It was the best part of my year!” explained Sophia, a long-term worker, who gave Bibles to her discipleship class. “When you put the Word of God into people’s hands and they wrestle and struggle with the message, it makes a huge impact!”

The women, all new in their faith, stood amazed as they began to read the Application Bibles Sophia had given. For the first time, they really understood the meaning behind the text.

Since then, Sophia has been encouraged to see spiritual growth in their lives. One lady has even chosen to break off her engagement to a non-Christian and start coming to church regularly.

“How do you grow in your faith if you don’t understand God’s Word?” says Sophia. “Now, whenever I work with Arabs, I’m going to make sure they have a translation that is understandable to them.”
