Sharing Christmas with Pakistani neighbours
Hong Kong | OM International
On 23 December 2011, the atmosphere at OM Hong Kong's centre was exceptionally vibrant as 25 volunteers and 68 Pakistani women and children gathered for the centre’s first Christmas party.
Because the temperature had dropped during the day, the team was worried that the attendance would be sparse. However, when evening rolled around, the families began arriving in groups, dressed in festive Pakistani clothing for the special occasion. They seemed just as excited about the party as the volunteers!
The programme included dinner, a magic show, a comical skit, games and a raffle. The team also shared the Christmas message through a silent skit about the birth of Jesus and a Christmas hymn.
“It was a blessing to see all of the volunteers sitting in the midst of our Pakistani friends, chatting, playing, and laughing together throughout the night,” said one OM Hong Kong team member.
The families told the team afterward that they really enjoyed themselves that night. Praise the Lord for the special Christmas experience. Pray that OM can continue to impact the lives of Pakistanis in Hong Kong.
