Caring for the fatherless
Argentina | OM International
For three years, the OM team in Córdoba, Argentina, has made weekly visits to an orphanage that holds around a dozen young boys. The life of each of these 8 to 12 year olds is very difficult. They have been left to live among strangers who share their sense of abandonment, and many have parents in jail or in prostitution.
The children are naturally rebellious and tend to live with few rules in the government-run orphanage. Many have mental disabilities due to prior abuse, which makes it even harder for them to cope with the other children. The OM team has recognised this, and has been able to talk with them each individually about the pain in their hearts.
Due to a lack of government funding, the children stayed in Córdoba during the summer in Argentina instead of going to a camp as was the tradition in past years. As a result, the OM Córdoba team is praying for more ways to spend time with the children. Please pray for volunteers from the local church to join the ministry and take it over when OM team members are away. Pray that God will help the team be an example of a good family for these boys, and that they can continue to develop strong bonds with them.
