Sean and Ana Mullan

Ireland | OM International

Sean and Ana Mullan met on the Doulos and got married in 1984. They settled to do ministery work in Ireland, recruiting OM teams to work in different parts of the island.

Ana writes:  I joined the Doulos on her first journey in 1979. OM was recruiting Latins to work in Spain and Portugal. I joined a music group which travelled around Spain taking meetings in different churches; during the day we did door to door and in the evening we sang and sold literature, before rejoining the ship later.

Sean joined the Doulos in 1981, as third officer. He already knew Spanish but his time on Doulos was of great value to improve it. Apart from his day-to-day job, he led church teams and spoke on board the ship. We started our relationship after I left the ship and got married in Argentina on St. Patrick’s Day 1984. Back in Ireland we worked for the next two summers recruiting OM teams to work in different parts of the country.

What we learned during our time with OM has greatly shaped us. We learned to trust in God for our spiritual needs and also for our practical needs.  Our vision of the world has always been much bigger because of OM and the passion that it communicated to us to reach those who have never heard the gospel.

Despite the size of OM, we are humbly touched when we still receive letters from George Verwer saying that he is praying for us. OM always placed a great emphasis on relationships and on walking in the light with one another.  This is something that we still consider one of the main cores for our own lives as we serve the church in Ireland.
