Bringing God’s Peace
In October, a creative arts team that included OM Arts' Jon Simpson along with other musicians, dancers, and dramatists toured in the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan. As a local believer told the team, "The people here have seen a lot of trouble
recently. They're tired of the fighting and problems. They're weary and they're open. We want to bring them His peace."
Despite the still somewhat unstable political situation in the country, the team performed in many memorable places. One was a facility for disabled men that has seen years of total neglect and decay. In the previous winter 70 of 300 men died of exposure to the cold. But God is working there, and about 30 of the men are believers. The physical conditions and atmosphere of the facility are changing as the Gospel is touching lives. It was a great joy for the team to share about God's goodness and see the resident men dance for joy.
In addition, the team visited a prison and presented an original drama illustrating God's forgiveness, healing, and reconciliation. At a university, the arts team's concert helped a local ministry link up with 496 new contacts who want to connect further with these believers.
