First, you’ll spend thirteen months aboard the MV Logos Hope—Operation Mobilization’s ministry ship. With over 400 people from 40 nations you will get to experience the rich dynamic of living, working and ministering within an international community. Every 2-3 weeks your city view will change as the ship visits over 20 cities a year and up to 10 countries. So, not only are your work mates and cabin mates from another culture you get to meet and experience many new whole cultures as you explore and minister in new ports every few weeks. This is a hands-on intentional Discipleship program designed to develop you in every area of life with both classroom teaching and daily opportunities to live out what you learn.Being part of OM’s ship ministry will mean that you will help impact over a million people who walk up our gangways each year and be part of an amazing ministry which brings knowledge, help and hope to the port cities of the world. This is done through our large book store (which has seen as many as 27,000 visitors in one day); teams that go out from the ship to share hope in prisons, hospitals remote villages and on the streets of the port city; relief projects and training for local Christians.
Apart from the huge impact this year will have on your life personally you will play a vital role in keeping the ship running as you work in one of the departments.
After your service on board the Logos Hope, you will move on to serve with Wycliffe for your second year. While serving with Wycliffe, you can pursue a linguistic role or a support role. In a support role, you will travel straight to your project location and use your existing skills in computing, administration, teaching or... In a linguistic role, you will spend your first one to three months at a training location where you will be taught new skills in linguistics, literacy or Scripture use before moving to your field project. Whether you are pursuing a linguistic role or a support role, your year-long field experience with Wycliffe will give you a chance to immerse yourself in a culture and task. It will also give plenty of time to experience some of the difficulties associated with fieldwork and to learn to trust in God in some unexpected ways.
