The purpose of this outreach is to support a local partner church in providing relief and development for refugees.OM Greece has been partnering with Omonia Church for 1.5 years and has supported them in their work among the refugees in Athens. Since the beginning of the refugee crisis, the church had their doors open, showing love to the refugees, building relationships, and reaching out with practical help. Come help us continue this wonderful work!

An ideal participant will be flexible with the scheduling and work. Things often change in Greece. No specific skills are required, but it would be helpful if participants have experience teaching English and/or experience working with children.
Participants will be staying in an OM apartment or local church dorms. Volunteers should expect to have roommates. Volunteers may be required to climb several flights of stairs if a lift is unavailable. If special accommodation is required, please inquire with the STM coordinator.
Participants will prepare their own meals. Tuesdays and Thursday lunch will be provided in the church. Local farmer's markets are the best places for fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs and fish.
Participants are responsible for arranging their travel to and from Athens International Airport. The airport code is “ATH.” They should arrive between 9:00 and 21:00 on the scheduled arrival day. Participants will need use public transportation (metro or bus) to get to Athens. However, if OM staff is available, they may be picked up from the airport. Groups should arrive and depart together.
Travel with public transportation is not included in the budget.
Please See "Travel".
Participants must be in good health and physically able to stand, bend, lift, walk, and do other physical activity as needed. Athens is a large city and volunteers must be able to walk long distances and climb hills/stairs.
