Participants will have the opportunity to travel to the Republic of Moldova, Europe’s smallest and economically poorest country, which struggles hugely with the problem of human trafficking. Up to one third of Moldovan children are considered “Social Orphans” as their parents have left the country to find work (unemployment in villages can be up to 80%) or struggle with alcohol addiction. These children are highly vulnerable to exploitation.OM organizes regular anti-trafficking conferences for vulnerable children and youth from the villages of Moldova who are largely unreached by education and awareness of this issue. The conferences address subjects such as: manipulation, identity, reaching and achieving goals, puberty, alcohol addiction, etc. You will be helping at one of these conferences, organized for around 50 girls aged 11-14. The girls are growing up without their parents, or in homes where abuse/neglect/addiction is the norm.
Available for: Singles Couples Families
The team will spend 3 days assisting with the conference. They will be responsible for planning and leading games, crafts, competitions, befriending the girls and praying for them. Our OM Moldova Relief team is responsible for the moral/spiritual education program. In the days following the conference you will travel to a village and visit some of the girls in their homes in order to see and understand the circumstances they are living in.
