Evangelism

During a two-week outreach in Irapuato, Mexico, Joshua Hernandez witnessed God's glory through his fellow workers. "I could really see the talents He had given my team members," he says. "Let me start with the first day. It was such a blessing to not only knock on doors, but on the hearts of the people we met - and just hear the children scream with joy at receiving a simple balloon. For children from families with more money, this would mean nothing. But for these kids, balloons were big gifts. We also did programs with clowns, mimes, and puppets, and gave out sweets. Day after day, door after door, step by step we could see God's love poured out in the hearts of these little ones. It was a silent kind of ministry in places where sin abounds, but where God's people lightened lives."
In Peñuelas, 30 minutes from Irapuato, the team brought God's living water to another dry place. "It was as if Jesus Himself was walking through those streets," says Joshua, "We had strong winds, black clouds and sound problems. But in spite of that, the Lord's message went out to this small community which needed His love so badly. Both children and adults accepted Christ into their lives. It was hard to say goodbye to them. But we have faith that Jesus will water and perfect the seeds of faith that were planted there."
Seeds like these have been planted in hundreds of communities worldwide by OM short-term evangelism teams. If the Lord has given you the gift of evangelism (or if you would like to see what gifts you have), pray about joining one of these teams on a short-term mission trip. Trips are available year-round to individuals, families, and church groups. Then you can tell your story of how you saw God move.
