Legacy of Libraries

library trainingIt started out as a simple request for postal services but wound up meeting one of the country's greatest needs. During a recent visit of the OM ship Logos Hope to Sierra Leone, M.I. Kanneh, Acting Managing Director of the country's postal services, had an idea. He says, "When we saw in your adventure a means to serve our people, in the enhancement of education through your book fair, we elected to be part of it." Since his branch of government is also responsible for library services, a donation of educational books would enable his team to establish twelve libraries in rural areas. The team received library training from Logos Hope librarian Ruth Willover, who was in awe of the network created among the 37 people who attended. The National Library Board of Sierra Leone will provide continuing training for the librarians appointed to these new positions.

Praise God for the provision of these educational materials, but more importantly, for the workers who will be bringing reading to these rural communities.
