Pari's Story
For Pari, growing up poor in a small village, life was not easy. It became even more difficult when her father left his wife for another woman and stopped all financial help. Although Pari's two elder sisters were already married to day-laborers, Pari, her mother, and her younger sister had to earn their own money to buy food and to allow Pari and her sister to continue their education.
At first, Pari tutored other children and was able to help her mother financially; but it was still difficult to make ends meet. Then Pari had the chance to join an OM computer training course. She was a great student, and went on to secure a part time job in a local development group, greatly supplementing the family income. This brought more stability and renewed dignity to them all. As a result of the training and her part time job, there is a much greater chance that Pari will marry a man who is not a day-laborer. "I am very grateful for the computer training that I received," says Pari. "Without it, we would be facing many difficulties. It is great to have been able to bring a smile back to my mother's face."
