Hope Teams

In ports throughout the world, crewmembers aboard Logos Hope invite guests to tour the ship and attend a concert, or browse the bookstore, or just chat over coffee in the café. But the team does not wait for visitors to come to them. They are also actively involved in reaching out to the communities they serve. The crew designates "hope teams" for each port. Some do prayer walks through the city. Others take books to local libraries. Teams build houses, visit orphanages and schools, and do relief work.

During one recent stop, Dr. Moses Lee and his wife Yook, ran an onshore medical clinic along with two local doctors. "People appreciated us. It was very satisfying," said Moses. The three doctors and Yook, a nurse, examined 150 patients in one day. When they detected a medical problem, they referred the patient to a hospital. "I was able to find many serious illnesses which people did not realize they had," Moses said. "If these illnesses had remained undetected they would have shortened people's lives from strokes or heart attacks." Other crewmembers tested people's eyesight and gave out glasses, while other crewmembers took the opportunity to connect with children through face painting and origami.

Hope teams address the varying needs of each local community. Each requires a different set of gifts, so unique teams are formed for each port. Will you be part of one of these teams? Learn more about Logos Hope below.
