Journey of Life

Logos Hope professionalPart of the Visitor Experience Deck on Logos Hope is an exhibit called Journey of Life. A series of pictures tells the story of the prodigal son. Many visitors are hearing it for the first time. One father explained the story to his daughter. “She understood it,” he said, “It is a good message for young people.”

For one crew member, that message is his life story. Gareth Kirk accepted the Lord as a teenager in Northern Ireland but after leaving home to join the Royal Navy, he wandered from his faith. After seven years, Gareth felt his Heavenly Father calling him back. Near the end of his Navy commitment, he was on watch when he saw the first OM ship Logos stranded on rocks. That image stayed with him even after he left the service. When he met an OM team member in Russia the next year, he realized that his skills as a seaman could be used for God’s service. He signed up for what was the newest OM ship, Logos II and has since served on Logos Hope. “My heart is fully behind the ship’s vision,” he says, “It excites me to think of thousands coming aboard to hear the Gospel. I want to see that through. I’m very motivated for that.”

You can take on a crucial role like Gareth’s. Logos Hope is currently in need of a permanent Chief Engineer, two more engineers, and pipe fitter welders. If you have these skills, please pray about joining the team aboard Logos Hope. See details about the engineer opportunities and welder options.
