Homeless Ministry Assistant

As an assistant in this ministry you would come alongside other believers in feeding the poor and engaging in other tasks at a local homeless shelter. Your purpose would be to visit and encourage these souls in the darkest time of their lives.

Requirements

We are looking for people with the following qualities: self-motivated, good listener, compassionate, considerate, resilient, hard-working, and makes new friends easily.

Training/experience in working with the homeless  and/or gifting in mercy, encouragement, evangelism, teaching, service, or helps would be a plus (but not strictly necessary).

All jobs/opportunities on this site are unsalaried. Most people joining OM have to raise financial support to cover their living expenses, usually through gifts from home churches and other supporters.

“As we visit homes in the village and meet with children with cerebral palsy and their parents, the memory of this boy in pain gives me energy and impetus to keep going, to keep teaching and showing and training as much as I am able, so that other kids can have a chance to be well cared for and helped,” says Beth.

Our experience with this boy encourages us to keep smiling, to keep telling people that besides what the culture tells them – they are loved by God, not cursed, and their love is seen by their children.”

"If you are starting out on the language and culture learning journey or if you have been at it a while and are feeling tired and despondent, I encourage you to persevere. To stick with it and pray for strength to continue. Keep asking questions and keep learning about the culture," urges Beth.
