JOB TITLE: Global Generosity Communications & Stewardship Director
REPORTS TO: SVP & CDO
MEMBER OF: Global Generosity Leadership Team (GGLT) & MTM
SUPPORTED BY: Operations Specialist, Stewardship Manager, Writers/Editors, Prospect Researcher
SUPERVISES: Stewardship Manager, indirectly supervises contract writers
CRITICAL FEW OBJECTIVES:
- Leads the functions of field relations and stewardship management within the Global Generosity Team
- Hires, develops and manages the Stewardship Manager and contract writing team, ensuring production of tailored, world-class proposals and stewardship reports for deeply invested partners
- Establishes and leads a strategic and systematic focus on relationships between strategic OM fields, the Global Generosity team and OM USA partners
- Engages as the primary liaison with OM International staff to ensure processes needed for world-class stewardship
- Guides collaboration with OM USA teams including Finance and Marketing to ensure effective communication and processes as gifts are received and sent out
- Influences systemwide organization performance improvement through strategic international assignments
- Supports engagement of the CEO, Board members and senior leaders as well as OM International leaders in the development process
Assumptions:
When accomplishment of these objectives falls outside of OMUSA’s scope to control, the Director will exert appropriate influence and drive for best results.
DUTIES:
Team Leadership:
- Own annual planning including department Logframe and budget, and maintaining budget-to-actual control
- Direct the facilitation of communications and mutually beneficial relationships between the GG team and key field staff and donors
- Consult with Global Generosity team members regarding field/project questions and to clarify funding needs for a set of strategic donors, and oversee the Stewardship Manager doing the same for all other managed donors
- Play a pivotal role in onboarding all new GG team members regarding OM worldwide and current ministry priorities
- Oversee the team troubleshooting gift allocation and other inquiries
- Contribute to select programs and ministries including Pillar Fund Allocation, crisis relief efforts and others as needed
- Manage and distribute monthly discretionary funds in collaboration with Finance
- Support facilitation and hosting of visitors from the field to the USA office
Stewardship Document Production:
- Direct the development of proposals and stewardship documentation by the Stewardship Management team, making sure said documentation is persuasive, accurate and flawless and submitted to donor/foundation prior to set deadline
- Oversee the production and distribution of the quarterly Insight Magazines to Major Donors and Churches
- Directly handle strategic stewardship documents such as Tear Sheets and those for particularly strategic donor relationships
CREDENTIALS and QUALITIES:
- A committed Christian and in agreement with OM USA’s faith statements found on our website
- BA/BS required, MBA and CFRE preferred
- Passionate about OM’s mission to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers amongst the least reached, and its plan to reverse their trajectory through integrated missions including Going Bolding, Sowing Broadly & Transforming Totally.
- 5+ years of front-line on-field successes in program delivery, contextual communications, or major donor fundraising, in a large, multi-national and hybrid work environment
- Expertise collaborating with others in a complex, matrix-structured, dynamic organizational environment. A track record of positioning affiliated entities as valued customers, and experience brokering between the needs of the affiliates and the interests of the donor.
- Ability to engage CEO, senior managers and board members in strategic communications, and to earn and maintain their confidence
- Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including principal donors, Board members, national staff and leadership in the field
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, to write and speak clearly and effectively, and an unusual capacity to engage, inspire and persuade
- Strong development-related technology skills including CRM and shared workspaces
- A self-starter with a high level of energy, self-confidence, and a positive “can-do” attitude are essential, as is humility
- An individual of unquestionable integrity whose professional and personal conduct reflects our values
