Refugee Relief in Adaševci, Serbia
November 4, 2022 – December 29, 2023

Located on a highway near the border of Croatia, OM is providing help for the refugees in the One Stop Center “Adaševci” with their ‘Tea Tent’ and the camp laundry. You will be involved in providing drinks in the OM tea tent, keeping the tent area clean, working in the camp laundry, socializing with refugees, and sharing Christ’s love with them while respecting the rules of the camp.

Our goal is to serve the refugees and show the love of Jesus, through provision of a space where they can come and hang out, drink tea or coffee together or play table tennis and play other games.

Ministry Details
Serving in the camp includes doing laundry for the refugees, making, and serving them tea and coffee and general duties involved in running the tea tent and laundry. When there is time, we are able to spend time with the refugees and share with them about our faith in Jesus Christ.
Participant Profile
You should be flexible, have the ability to work in teams, easily adaptable to new circumstances, heart to serve and work among Muslims, and able to work under the authority of the local OM team and government officials in the camp.
Accommodation
Accommodation fees are included in the fees that are paid to the team coordinator and she will settle the bill with the place you stay. Do not expect to have a single room.
Food
We do not provide meal. Self-catering is around 6-8€ a day, which is extra to the weekly fee paid.
Travel
Due to Covid, the only option to go to Šid by public transportation is very early in the morning. We can arrange airport pick up and drop off. This will cost additional 30€ each way. Please fly into Belgrade airport.
How to Find Us
Please See "Travel".
Health
If you have allergies or some medical history (depression, food disorder etc.) please make sure to notify your home office BEFORE arranging your trip. The conditions at the camp are poor and diseases can spread easily. Make sure you have the basic hygiene and medical supplies with you that you need.
Visa
Anyone with a European passport, not needing a visa for EU countries, or in possession of a Schengen visa can enter Serbia. Otherwise, we are not able to provide an invitation letter for visas. Please check with your home office for more information.
Notes
*Language: It is a must that you understand and speak English. If you doubt your capability to communicate in English or are unsure, please ask your home office for more information. Languages present among the refugees are: Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, Urdu and Kurdish.

**Camp: Previously, the camp was a mix of families and singles. Currently, the camp residents are mainly single guys, with the occasional women and children coming through. Both men and women are welcome to come and serve - you will not be alone in the camp!

*** Dates: We need volunteers all the time, you can also come for longer than week.

NOTE: Weekly options available through the end of 2023 at this time. Outreach runs Friday to Friday. If you would like to serve longer than one week, please be sure to make note of that on your application. Application and fee deadlines generally run 90 days prior to the start of an outreach. The placement coach will confirm deadlines based on your availability. The outreach cost for one week is $520. Additional weeks cost will confirmed by the placement coach.

Final cost will be confirmed by the placement coach at the time acceptance by the Serbia team to the outreach.

Cost does NOT include any overseas flights, required travel/medical insurance or possible visas.
