STEP on board the Logos Hope or Doulos Hope

If you are interested in short-term work with OM Ships International, then take the next STEP! Usually up to three months in length, this program gives participants a taste of world-wide service in a multicultural environment.

STEP (Short Term Exposure Program) is for singles/individuals, between 18 and 39. STEP is ideal for those with little or no previous exposure to missions. You will live and work with an international crew from over 40 countries. You will serve in a practical way on the ship, as well as be part of community events and creative ministries. You will also participate in Connect Teams once a week. You will get to meet people from other countries and be able to share your faith. STEP is a great way to serve others, learn new skills and see God at work in this adventure of faith!

Ministry Details

Living and working alongside people from different nations gives you firsthand experience of what it takes to be a cross-cultural Christian worker. It is both challenging and enriching. The days will be filled with practical work in one of the ship's departments (40hrs per week/ 8hrs per day). Outreach Teams are one day per week; you will participate in an assigned ministry experience. It might be an onboard programme or an onshore event (COVID-19 restrictions may apply).

Participant Profile

Participant must be In good health, flexible, willing to learn. You will need to have at least an intermediate level of English. You must possess a passport that is still valid for at least 6 months at the leaving date from Logos Hope. You must also agree to abide by all ships policies.

Note: You must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to serve on the Doulos Hope. The requirement for the COVID-19 vaccination has been lifted only for the Logos Hope. However, you must be willing to abide by ships policy on COVID-19 vaccinations/requirements in the event that ship is in an area where COVID-19 may redevelop and will then be subject to any country's rules/regulations/laws for the ship to be docked in and allowed entry to that country.

Accommodation

Onboard the ship, generally in a 10-berth cabin where there is minimal storage and communal bathrooms.

Food

Nutritious meals are served in our dining room on board three times per day. The menu is set by our Executive Chef and is often determined by the food available. Unfortunately, we cannot cater to specific eating habit or diets (vegetarian, gluten free, low cholesterol, low carb, etc.) but try to offer a variety of options at each meal.

Travel

Participant must arrange own travel to and from the ship and visas if required. Travel/Health Insurance cover is required, which must cover Covid-19 treatment and repatriation if needed.

Health

Participant must be in excellent health, able to cope with hard physical work in hot, humid climates.

Visa

We'll advise on application whether your nationality will need a visa.

Notes

Cost does NOT include any overseas flights, insurance and possibly visas.
